Tazewell County Divorce Records

Divorce, legally called the "dissolution of marriage" in Illinois, is handled by the family court system. When a divorce is finalized, the court issues a dissolution of marriage decree, which becomes part of the official court record.

In Tazewell County, divorce cases are filed with and managed by the Circuit Clerk's Office under the Dissolution/Family Division of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court.

Divorce records in Tazewell County are considered public, though access to certain portions of the file, such as financial disclosures or records relating to minor children, may be restricted.

Certified copies of final divorce decrees are issued by the Tazewell County Circuit Clerk. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) can also verify divorces occurring from 1962 forward for a $5 verification fee.
